Ingredients

  • 1 cup chana dal
  • 1 cup fenugreek - cut into pieces
  • 1/4 tsp asafoetida
  • 1 onion - finely chopped
  • 1 tomato - chopped
  • 1 tsp green coriander
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red Chili powder
  • salt - as per taste
  • 1 tbsp ghee
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 dry red chillies

Instructions

  1. To make chana methi dal recipe, first soak chana dal in 3 cups of water for 30 minutes
  2. Now wash and chop the fenugreek with water
  3. Heat the oil in a pan
  4. Add fenugreek to it and cook till the fenugreek becomes soft
  5. After the fenugreek becomes soft, turn off the gas and keep it aside
  6. Now heat the oil in a pressure cooker
  7. Add asafetida to it and cook it for 10 seconds
  8. After 10 seconds, add onions and cook till they become soft
  9. After the onion becomes soft, add coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt along with tomatoes and let it cook
  10. Now add chana dal with water
  11. Turn off the cooker and cook till 6 to 8 cities come
  12. Let the pressure drain automatically
  13. Open the cooker, mash the lentils and add fenugreek to it
  14. Mix and take out in a bowl
  15. Now for tempering, heat the ghee in a tempering pan
  16. Add cumin seeds, dry red chilies and let it cook for 15 seconds
  17. Add the tadka to the dal and mix
  18. Serve Chana Methi Dal Recipe along with Tomato Onion Cucumber Raita, Tomato Onion Cucumber Raita and Phulka for a day meal
