Cabbage Pachadi Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons Sesame (Gingelly) Oil
  • 1 tablespoon White Urad Dal (Split)
  • 1 tablespoon Roasted Gram Dal (Pottukadalai)
  • 2 cups Cabbage (Patta Gobi/ Muttaikose) - roughly chopped
  • 3 Green Chillies - chopped (adjust)
  • 10 Curry leaves
  • Salt - to taste
  • 1/2 tablespoon Tamarind Paste
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 1/2 tablespoon Mustard seeds
  • 1 pinch Asafoetida (hing)
  • 2 Dry Red Chillies - (adjust)
  • 2 teaspoon Sunflower Oil

Instructions

  1. To prepare cabbage pachadi recipe, heat oil in a pan, add urad dal and chana dal and saute it on low flame till golden brown in colour
  2. Add green chillies and curry leaves
  3. stir and mix well
  4. Now add chopped cabbage
  5. Add some salt as per your taste and let it cook for next 8-9 minutes, make sure that cabbage is half cooked, there should be a slight crunch in them
  6. Let the mixture cool down
  7. Now add the cabbage mixture in a grinder jar
  8. Add tamarind and some water
  9. Grind the cabbage mixture to a smooth chutney
  10. Transfer the chutney in a bowl
  11. Now heat a tadka pan with a teaspoon of oil
  12. Add mustard seeds and let them crackle
  13. Add asafoetida, mix well
  14. Add the tempting to the cabbage chutney and give it a stir
